    Lady Mary was never mentioned in any of their publications.

 

    Likewise, Richard Sympson, Lemuel Gulliver’s cousin and publisher, neglected to mention Mary Burton-Gulliver’s contribution to the editing of her husbands’ memoirs, in his “The Publisher to the Reader” introduction to ‘Gulliver’s Travels’(1727).

 

    Another example: as of 1859, Mary Anne Evans published her books using the pen name of George Eliot. Charlotte Bronte used the name of Currer Bell; Julia Bécour used the name of Paul Grendel, etc. etc.

 

    All names long forgotten and their books no longer read. But nobody reads books today, anyway. Except for the Harry Potter series, of course, written by J.K. Rowling.
